Motilal Fomra Sanatana Dharma Higher Secondary School was started in the year 1960 as a High School and the opening strength was a little over 100. The strength has risen to 685 now. Owing to the major donations from the Fomra Family and handsome contributions from the other well wishers of sowcarpet area the school has its own four storeyed building.

Till the Academic year 1977-78 Hindi remained the only medium of instruction up to X standard. English medium was started in VI Std in the year 1978-79 and at present there are both English and Hindi Medium sections from VI to X Std. As a result of the undaunted measures taken by the Management of the school, in the year 1979-80, Higher Secondary classes were started with English as medium of instruction and Hindi or Tamil as the First language. Thus the school caters to the needs of even the non-Hindi Pupils in Higher Secondary Classes.
